Introduction to understanding Aboriginal perspectives

This course will run each Thursday over 4 consecutive weeks.
The course will:
- Enable participants to analyse and better understand the shared/Aboriginal/European history of Australia since colonisation
- Provide a pathway for people who are considering undertaking any of the Aboriginal and Cultural units as part of a tertiary qualification.
- Support participants in their ongoing journey towards understanding the multiple perspectives involved in learning cultural respect for all people.

Fees: 

If you are eligible for a government-subsidised place, you may also be eligible for a concession rate. Concessions on tuition fees for government-subsidised training places are available to the following people provided they meet the eligibility criteria for a government-subsidised place.

- Commonwealth Health Care Card holders, and their dependant children and dependant spouses 
- Pensioner Concession Card holders, and their dependant children and dependant spouses 
- Veteran’s Gold Card holders (but not their dependants) 

* If you are eligible for a concession, when you come to the "Course Fees" section, go to "Concessions Available" and click on the box “For Concession Card Holders ONLY!” and then click on the "Recalculate Discounts" orange tab when completing the enrolment form, to ensure you are provided with the concession rate.
Note: we will need to sight and take a photocopy of your original concession card before the course commencement.

If you have identified as a concession card holder we will be in touch with you to arrange for you to bring in your concession card on the first day.


 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Analyse and better understand the shared Aboriginal/European history of Australia.
  • Develop the confidence and study skills for a successful outcome.
  • Study pathways for people who are considering undertaking any Aboriginal or Cultural units as part of a tertiary qualification.
  • Understand how policies and practices impact on the lives of Aboriginal people.
  • Access to the Bubup Wilam Aboriginal Child and Family Centre.

Learning Methods

This course will be delivered face to face, unless otherwise advised.
